The probability of your assessment doesn't look as correct , when ASX:MCT ANN FEB 4 clearly states,

"Visible gold has been intersected in the first hole at the high priority Cosmopolitan Prospect, circa 100 metres to the north of the historic high-grade Cosmopolitan mine workings..."

and,

"The current programme at the Kookynie Gold Project is designed to follow up on the phenomenal drill hole results to date through step out and infill drilling at the Leipold Prospect..."

My assessment based on this information would be that of a higher probability of more of the same, that is consistent solid results, with the hope of something special, just to make things more interesting .
