Far from me to assume anything but it looks like you're into mining stocks and are an idealistic chap - especially with "offshore Senegal" in your holdings.
Anyway just to reflect -
ASX 5000 - 4000 (current level) ( - 20%)
DAX 7500 (actually) - 5300 (current level) (29%)
HK 25000 - 20000 ( - 20%)
Foot 6100 - 5200 (current level) ( 17%)
Nikkei 11500 - 9000 (21%)
As for the DOW?????
DOW 13000 - 11000 (15%)
SPX 1400 - 1150 (17%)
Forgetting the others - Portugal, Italy and even the turmoil in France, I would rate all the economies listed above better than the US.
And yet....Dow has fallen the LEAST. And it is the WORST of the lot in terms of economy.
