    Thanks for the info, I didn't know there wasn't a hard and fast number of days one needs to hold to avoid the wash sale in Australia. It also seems a bit vague to me, where the ATO can come to the conclusion that someone sells for the purpose of making a tax loss or not

    Maybe the wash sale rule wouldn't apply to buy-backs anyway, given that anyone who sells can easily claim they're selling for the franking credits, which 99.9% of the time would legitimitely be the case I'd imagine
