So true, they are. I'm a Canberran and I'm used to seeing this first hand. It is quite disgusting actually.
The Big 4 + MQG will take a hit but they will survive and they will be stronger for it. It will free them from a lot of counterparty risk from the weak individual and insto customers in the loan book at the very least.
I'm not that confident on the smaller ones. There might be one or two that won't survive. We may even see a few getting swallowed much like the Bankwest scenario and pain of the loan book deleveraging.
Definitely the sacrificial industry in that scenario will be Construction... Hands Down!
