That's true and it only matters if more cash is being invested when the stock is overvalued, or the investor is approaching retirement (phasing risk) or needs funds for another purpose in the short to medium term. I am saying that as someone who is actively selling CBA, and I think it's overvalued on every metric but the selling isn't due to the valuation alone, rather the fact that CBA has grown to a ridicious % of my portfolio due to its incredible performance. The people who try and bet on timing the market very rarely outperform the index and often are better off doing nothing, even if they are eventually proven right. That's the game they play. Maximum risk, very little reward IMO.
