'That said, it does seem ridiculous that Commonwealth Bank is benefiting from the government guarantee whilst simultaneously showing no sympathy for struggling corporate customers, even though CEO Ralph Norris is chasing an $11.56 million bonus if he can get CBA to number one for customer service by June 2010.'

Here here. The CBA needs to recognize, now it is the repaint of government handouts, and is not operating in an environment of pure capitalism, factors other than what it considers prudent operations needs to be considered. Don't worry though, I have no doubt some high level politicians will make CBA acutely aware of it, very acutely aware of it. Only hope OZ in not a casualty.

As the bailout cry goes - privatize profits but socialize losses. Trouble is once a private company accepts some of those 'socialized losses', such as guaranteed deposits, they better be prepared for the government to sticky beak around in other stuff they do.

    Thanks
    Bill
