I bank with them because they took over The State Bank of Victoria years ago and The State Bank were the only ones that would give me a mortgage at the time. I have continued banking with them for many reasons,
they have a local branch, they have many automated tellers in convenient locations and I use Commsec as my broker and it is linked to my Commonwealth bank settlement account and that makes life simple.

I used to work in the banking industry and if you think that you are going to get good service or rates from a bank you are dreaming. Using a bank is a necessary evil and they all rob you one way or another.
