    You appear to be confusing the motives of the RBA and CBA.

    The RBA is a government owned bank that moves the cash rate with the objective of keeping inflation in the desired range.

    The CBA is a privately owned bank that maximises shareholders profits. The reality is that one and three year funding costs for CBA have reduced and they are passing this saving to customers. The costs for variable rate loans are set by the RBA cash rate and the cost of long term funding. The latter is increasing so any move by the bank's outside of the RBA is likely to be up not down.
