I agree that companies don't have social responsibility or any other such twaddle. They have shareholders funds entrusted to them to maximise their profit within the law.
The issue is one of law. Our legislators should not be granting the bank shareholders the use of a guarantee for free.
The banks are "Too Big To Fail". As the goveernment couldn't allow it they should be broken up as the US had to break up some of their big companies with anti trust legislation or charge the banks for the guarantee.
The current situation is unacceptable to those of us taxpayers shovelling money your way.
