Rates are very cheap now, go back to when i borrowed $400k in 1991, rate was 16.5% when we get close to that then lets hear the squeals. Its the old story people just borrow way beyond their means and throw a car, a new plasma and other odds and ends into the deal and oh thats right they like to have takeaway 3 times a week, eat out at least once a week and hit the pubs, clubs and pokies. I get sick of hearing people complaining, the banks are business and they are there to make money and personally the return they get on equity is poor IMHO.They are an easy target unlike some small business which charge what they like and with margins of 100% plus or dentists that charge you what ever the next BMW payment is for filling a tooth and splashing a bit of fluoride on your teeth.
I do agree that the CEO's are definitely not worth what they are being paid, but that is another argument entirely.
There should be a compulsory course at High School on money management and using credit wisely at least a few more people will understand the basics.
As someone else said earlier better to have your money in the bank shares not in their accounts.
