    I suggest you get a US based broker.

    I use https://www.schwab.com/public/schwab/client_home

    They allow Aus residents to trade in the USA, you can hold funds in USD & the fees are cheaper. $4.95 + 65c per contract & multi leg trades are combined (ie if buying 1 spread position $4.95 + 65c) you pay to open & pay to close positions as normal.

    There are other brokers out there, IB is also another great option.
