If you can borrow against the asset instead of triggering the cap gains event it might be more tax effective for you. I personally have a policy of not selling assets, but you'll make your own choices with your own specific advice.
Covid time buyers are currently enjoying +$100 per share here on CBA. Adding $50 per share to your taxable income just feels like paying extra charity to government revenue.
