Bendigo Bank down -18% this morning. Westpac down -4%. Both reported falls in profit, especially Bendigo Bank. CBA by contrast grew profit 2%. Just underpins how much the banking sector is struggling to grow earnings when the best bank is pulling 2%.
That Bendigo Bank result is a shot across the bow for those who think bank shares are untouchable. Yes, it's a much smaller regional bank, but it still operates in the same sector and environment as CBA.
