The difficulty in using phrases like "safe haven" is that some, including posters on HC, will interpret it literally, meaning that it can never fail. In fact, nothing is ever 100% safe - not even government bonds. People use government bonds as a benchmark by which to measure risk, calling it the "risk free" rate of return, but it's a misnomer. Put simply, nothing is ever risk free; and there are only degrees of safety. LT holders of CBA are aware of this, and are prepared to ride the ups and downs of a stable company, rather than risk timing the market.
