yes banks do nothing but make me nervous - leveraged beasts they are...
in a diversified portfolio looking for market returns (not outperformance) they are necessary but need to be handled with great caution. I have not had an Au bank in my superfund for years.
the problem a lot of us have is we bought banks for cheap prices and are now stuck with them unless you can reduce without tax.
about the best is to make sure bank % are no higher than market weight. banks = something to be managed not actively invested in. the dividends are not safe, they are paid at the discretion of Govts.
