Not all bank issues are the same... SVB was complete mismanagement of their interest rate risk. Absolutely awful risk management that needs to be investigated. Credit Suisse has been in decline for some time but also due to miss management and crisis after crisis in relation to bad investments and poor money laundering processes. The recent weaknesses in banking sector was the final nail in the coffin for Credit Suisse.
Australian banks are some of the most heavily regulated and most capitalised banks in the world. While there may be some contagion risk through the capital and funding markets, the banks themselves are very solid. But if you don't understand the differences in banks in Australia and SVB / Credit Suisse my suggestion would be not to hold banks at all. You should really stick to index investing except for individual stocks that you understand like the back of your hand.
