Although I am not currently a holder of CBA I bought in at $5.40 in 1991 when the were first offered to the public.
If you bought the minimum 400 shares it would have cost you $2,160 back then. If you re-invested all dividends and accounting for the benefit of franking credits, your investment would have been worth $150,000 in Sept. 2016. Of course it would be more now but I had difficulty finding a more up to date calculation.
At the time (1991) I was unable to convince my workmates that taking up the offer was a good idea ! I obviously would not have made it as a salesman.
However I did not partake in the privatization of CSL even tho' I handled their products every day in my line of work. Oops!
Phillip Adams reckons "they" should nationalize CBA, TLS, and QAN. He gives no idea how that could be done but as an old Communist he can be quite entertaining. Him that is. Not me. If only we could turn clocks back !
