Plenty of excess capital coming online as COVID provisions are reversed. Banks in general are still divesting other side hustles such as life insurances arms etc. Most banks, including CBA are flush with cash, so I am anticipating a share buy-back from CBA before the CY end as there has been talk awhile ago about reducing the number of shares on issue.
And yes, I believe people are more than happy to take dividends well below 4%. Just have a look at other large blue-chip companies that are considered stable.
