I think that we are in a bear market. Furthermore I have not got a clue as to when it will bottom. I was reading
a US expert who claimed to have bought solid US industrials on a yield of 10% at the end of a previous bear market.
Basically it reaches the stage where you say. These yields are so good I will buy and ride out the rest of the bear market.
The question with the banks is" How likely are their earnings to remain at the present level or increase?" I dont now the answer. If bank earnings fall then so may
their dividend yields and share prices.
Buying bank shares is not a no-brainer.
