Unlisted cooperative CBH is over in the West but operates in the same sector as GNC.

At times CBH has been speculated as a takeover target, but nothing much has evntuated. ACCC competition (market concentration) issues could be a problem.

This is from a longer article about CBH in 'The Australian' of Monday 5 Oct 2020 (Simon Stead is CBH Chairman):

Plenty to do for a true believer in the co-operative model. Stead says it will continue to prove its worth. “I think were proving that every day. We have the lowest storage and handling fees in the country and that certainly helps keep our members internationally competitive. Ninety-five of the grain grown in this state has to find its way out through one of the four ports and onto the world market and it is just essential that as a co-op we perform that task at that level.

“CBH is Australia’s large grain exporter so we’re very important to the national economy now as export income is more vital than ever. If we handle a 14 million tonne harvest it will be business as usual. We will resume our work on the network to keep improving that and hopefully world markets will play their part and we can continue to sell grain all round the world.”
