A text book example of a company with many very smart people working for it doing something very dumb, once a decision has been made to adopt a new technology it is very hard to reverse as someone is going to look like a goose. My bet is they will go to a thickness half way between these shitty crumple bottles and what the original ones were like and the sooner the better.
