Worth remembering that these valuations do not include the 2.4mtpa Vlakplaats project, which is due to commence in 2013, with substantial funding from the cashed-up KORES. Then there are: Wesselton, Leiden, Mooifontein, and Lemoenfontein projects. Also, there was talk of fast-tracking Vaalbank in 2011, via a JV with Total's Forzando colliery.
One other thing to also bear in mind is that there is an effective 100% return for CCC on VlkVk, until all their Capex/Opex inputs have been recovered. Same goes for other BEE balances in CCC assets. We will have to allow some dilution for the 36% balance of Mashala, but this won't be too drastic, given that it is only approx. $19m (esp. considering the incredible value that acquisition has added to CCC, including immediate export earnings from Ferreira).
On the Zimbabwe news articles - I would be very wary of trusting any press clippings from Zimbabwean online newspapers, with an obvious political bent/bias. How did these journalists come into possession of this information ("commercial in confidence"?) in the first place? They seem to have been leaked to the press with obvious political & mischievous intent, with a very lop-sided & sensationalist presentation of the "facts". I'd treat these with as much skepticism as articles from the West Australian or the Sunday Times in Perth. As I said before, CCC management do monitor HC, and they are fully aware of shareholders' concerns. They are working hard to address & remedy any concerns that shareholders may have. JB is waiting on a response from SA at the moment, to the Zimbabwe news articles. Until we get an official response from the company, it's best not to jump to conclusions, esp. without knowing all the facts.
