Some technologies offer us at least the possibility of making huge strides towards achieving this goal.

For example, coal drying can reduce carbon dioxide emissions from brown coal by up to a third, and carbon capture and storage (CCS), or the storage of carbon dioxide emissions in underground geological reservoirs, can effectively bring greenhouse gas emissions to near zero.
