The only way in my view that the coal industry will be saved from extinction is for the development of cost effective carbon capture.
In terms of nuclear waste the problem is the control and mangement of it, remembering that it is at the end of the day an extremely harmful wsste product for many, many, many years.
Who precisely is going to be responsible for that, the power of the people will damand to know and if it doesn't stack up it simply another reason as to why nuclear energy doesn't cut the mustard.
