    Which returns us to the GSK problem. They essentially 'own' Zanamivir and have declined to market it - their preference is to pursue flu vaccination options. For them it's a question of being in the prevention camp rather than that of the cure and the reason they care at all about Zanamivir is that with an effective cure being out of reach, the public will prefer the vaccination option.
    I recall the birdflu scare in2009 and how GSK had to be prodded into action by govt agencies to produce our intravenous Zanamivir - a very effective treatment for hospitalised flu victims.
    The full Zanamivir saga is so weird that if it were not true, you couldn't invent it.
    Once out of patent protection it may well take off - too late for us though...
