As soome posters have already said, the recent extensive rains in eastern Mindanao around Surigao and San Francisco are not good news. For reference and further detail, have a look at an article from Accuweather yesterday:

    http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/four-feet-of-rain-floods-phili/22301674

One of the reasons the old Siana stopped operations pre-Greenstone was a pit wall failure after extensive rains. The end result was a flooded pit filled with a mud slurry at the bottom of the pit and down into the underground workings.

The RED guys did a good job of dewatering and cleaning up the mud and the u/g access before the tailings dam problems caused the CDO, but this sort of recent continuous rainfall into a pit that effectively acts as a funnel into the u/g workings cannot be good.

Let's hope that the pumping capacity can still keep the water out of the pit and that the surrounding areas are not so flooded that there is nowhere to pump the water to.

And that there are no pit wall failures as a result of the rains waterlogging the ground.

It would be helpful if management made some comment on the impact of the recent weather, if only to allay fears.
