Whoa there punters! This little sleight of hand of an announcement was designed to confuse you into thinking the problems have been solved. I laughed until I cried!

The official version from the MGB states that the “suspension order (CDO) can be lifted only if a new tailings storage facility is constructed”. Whilst the ambiguity of whether RED would push through with the plan to produce a cemented tail and deposit this in the old dam locations has been confirmed by this announcement (as per my post on 14/01/13), the fact remains that the CDO will not be lifted until the new dam to the south-east of the mine is completed.

That RED/Greenstone need a significant amount of land purchased, converted to mining title, a new ECC and finally to have the dam constructed puts this out beyond 2015. A simple check of the Environmental Management Bureau database on ECC applications puts the timeframe for getting the ECC alone in excess of 12 months (and in some case over 5 years if at all).

I’m sure we will be given these ‘good news’ stories on how well RED are managing the situation on a semi-regular basis to keep us entertained.

Maybe a course in English comprehension maybe something RED BOD can look at; everyone else on HC seems to be able to comprehend the MGB announcement in the RED 5 ASX announcement dated 14-01-2014.
