The major concern in the development of a new tailings dam will be if the proposed position of the dam is suitable to sustain the loads required. Given that RED/Greenstone now has a history of not operating dams correctly there will need to be additional (and costly) safeguards put in place.
It seems odd that with the importance of getting this right, RED have not mentioned the results of the geotechnical drilling that would be required before designing the new dam, nor provided any feasibility data to the market. It seems they just keep regular shareholders in the dark and only give any real information to the majors and their brokers.
