COMMANDER COMMANDS LEADING PLACE IN
THE AUSTRALIAN ITC MARKET
Commander Communications (CDR) announced today that it has reached agreement to
acquire a group of leading IT resellers (Axon Group) in Australia. The acquisition will expand
the strongly performing Data and Enterprise business within Commander, with the potential to
deliver an additional $70m of revenue in the current financial year.
The Axon Group comprises a number of independent IT product and services providers based
in Sydney (Metropolitan Business Machines), Melbourne (Axon Computers), Adelaide (General
Business Machines), Perth (PT Computer Professionals), and Canberra (Computerquest).
The Axon Group provides quality ITC solutions to Education, Government and Corporate, with
an emphasis on notebook and mobile computing. The acquisition positions Commander as the
largest full service supplier of ITC solutions to the Education sector in Australia.
Commander Managing Director, Adrian Coote, said the acquisition was a significant advance in
Commander’s strategy of growing its national Data presence and will reinforce Commander’s
leading position as a provider of ITC solutions in Australia.
“This acquisition is good for Commander and its customers in a number of areas:
• It further strengthens Commander’s integrated 360º solution and in particular
boosts our portable computing mobility and maintenance offerings to SME,
Corporate and Enterprise customers.
• It gives Commander an increased footprint on the desktop enhancing the
Commander telephony solutions that have pride of place in many SME
workplaces. Increasingly, Commander is providing desktop computer equipment
and IT infrastructure which ideally positions Commander and our customers to
take advantage of the benefits to be delivered through IT and telecommunications
convergence.
• It enhances Commander’s purchasing volumes and brings highly valued expertise
in important vertical markets to Commander’s Sales & Service divisions.
• It increases our presence in the Education sector and allows us to present the well
respected Commander brand and Commander services to the next generation of
decision makers.”
General Manager Enterprise, Steve Evans, said the acquisition confirms Commander’s
commitment to the Education, Government and Corporate marketplace. Commander is now
the clear leader in providing total ITC solutions to each of these sectors.
