    Yes, I guess you right. But the 'blocking' come about as the beads get 'stuck' in the tumor or very close to it. This is the whole point of the concept - the beads get stuck and emit their radiation.

    The implication from your earlier post was that the primary method was to actively block the blood flow to the tumor - this is not the case. The size of the beads is most important, to travel quickly in the blood (and not cause radiation damage on the way to the liver) and then when in the very small capillaries around the tumor then they get stuck and emit the radiation. Because they get stuck they tend to not pass through and cause damage elsewhere.

    There is an embolization aspect inasmuch as the blood flow is curtailed. Of course, if this worked by itself then there would not be the need to load the beads with radiation, which would avoid the issues with same.
