Trev,
I'm trying to find a piece in a book from a speech of Hoover.
Pretty much he convened some big meeting to discuss solutions to the economic problems. But by the time of the meeting; there were that many signs that everything was OK that he opened the meeting by saying that the meeting was now pointless.
Of course, Roosevelt then went onto talk about "withering leaves"; which I reckon might have been the motivation for the current "green shoots".
Who knows where we are?
But I am fairly certain that those calling the end to out current woes are the same ones that would have cheered on George W as he stood in air force uniform on board the USS Blowemup and declared:"Mission accomplished".
