what a great post & link as usual. Agree with all your points. Wow. Also, I'm now worried immensely about the northern hemisphere's reactions to the exponential rate of growth in excess mortalities during winter months. I never appreciated it until seeing that rate mapped against CHF and alzheimer's/ dementia (which I believe can be viewed as having standard mortalities) - seeing it fall behind & then re-accelerate. I focussed on Germany and Sweden as well as the countries you listed.
If I'm reading it correctly, it seems most starkly apparent if you focus on the graphed change in rate of growth between:
- 3rd week in October; and
- 1st week in March (of the following year)
Yes, we are aware SOC did improve during the period Feb 2020 to Sept 2020, but unless you can correlate those changes with something else the impact of the winter is so shocking! And it's coming (again).
