Whytee, other negative posters, whilst invariably being MISINFORMED or myopic in their criticism of MSB and its story, at least give rise to some decent refuting evidence and discussion from more informed MSB followers, which makes for interesting fashion. You just bait in the most uninteresting fashion like an annoying fly. You are not even below parading out the dead to make your point as shown recently:

You may have noticed no-one replied to you. Its because no matter how strongly they feel, they would be very mindful of morbid taunts of the the dead in an affliction that sees 95% of patients dead within 5 years. Do let us know when one of your kids gets GVHD and your insistence then that they only be admitted to blind controlled trial. That a single armed trial is just not satisfactory to you.

Just like you show you don't have the fainstest idea of the issues in the pathophysiology and ethical trialling of high morbity ailments, you show you don't have the faintest idea of the mechanism of actions of stem cell treatments in degenerative disc disease. Mesenchymal stem cells broadly repair degenerative disc tissue in several ways: by supplying the lost or damaged cells by direct differentiation into disc tissue-specific cells which promote the formation of ECM (Extracellular matrix (ECM) depletion is a characteristic of degenerative disc disease); by indirectly enhancing tissue regeneration by the secretion of growth factors; and immuno-modulate the inflammatory responses that impede tissue regeneration and indeed slowly cyclically destroy tissue.

Mesoblast give you a nice little body of evidence to allow you to understand how (do yourself a favour perhaps and read up on the various tissues involved in degenerative disc disease - particularly the "annulus" [did I spell that right?] before you ignorantly comment on them):

    "Mechanism of Action
Extensive preclinical studies have established that MPCs have anti-inflammatory effects and secrete multiple paracrine factors that stimulate new proteoglycan and collagen synthesis by chondrocytes in vitro and by resident cells in the nucleus and annulus in vivo. MPCs have also been shown to produce anti-inflammation factors. Together these effects offer the potential to strengthen the load bearing function of the disc by increasing its water content, improving disc anatomy and stability, while also reducing inflammation and pain."

"In response to the specific inflammatory signature that typifies chronic low back pain, our proprietary cells respond by producing a wide variety of biomolecules that not only target the underlying inflammation (immunomodulation) but also suppress pain in degenerated discs, inhibit nerve ingrowth, and enhance disc repair9,11,12, 13, 14, 15,16.":

Much easier for you to sling mud than actually read in any depth at all, I appreciate...
