Been thinking about potentially what reduced the death rate in Victoria quite quickly from Covid in the last couple of months. Below I was having a look at the daily deaths before Mesoblast announced that they would begin trialling the cell therapy for Covid and applicable patients in Victoria .
Did a few figures on the deaths in the month for 30 days leading up to the likely start date of administrating the stem cells 9th of September (announcement was made 2nd of September )and the 30 days post that date.
interestingly the numbers roughly fell in line with 20 to 25% deaths relative to the previous 30 days with 448 deaths prior to introduction of trial and 115 Deaths in 30 days post 9th September these figures seems to be roughly in line with the survival rates from the compassionate trial at Mount Sinai. Whilst the Covid Victorian daily infections were reducing during these 2 periods these was still significant number of people who were active with Covid through both periods .
i wonder how much Mesoblast had to do with the substantial change in the death rate?
i guess we will find out at some point.
