@benelong Woodcock massively under the pump on the back of the Aduhelm approval. The letter below is from US Senator Manchin to President Biden demanding the interim FDA Chief is given the boot.

"The FDA convenes an advisory committee of scientific experts when a matter is of significant public interest, highly controversial or in need of a specific type of expertise" - I'd put the Ryoncil Adcomm in the "Significant public interest" category. Still shaking my head.

There's a huge focus in the letter on opioids. There were 90,000 overdoses in the USA last year - over half of these (>45k) attributed to the opioid endemic. And we all know lower back pain is a leading reason for the opioid scourge.

"The FDA has played a critical role in this overdose epidemic by overseeing continuous approval on stronger and more addictive opioids since the initial approval of Oxycotin in 1995 and Woodcock has been there for all of it. Woodcock has repeatedly ignored public health concerns and shown a dereliction of duty by not working to end this epidemic. It is blatantly clear that we must do more to address this drug epidemic that is impacting every American"

Woodcock's days are numbered. Biden's been an advocate for stem cells and exploring their potential for a long time. Sleepy Joe needs to make a stance and wake up on this issue and appoint someone to tackle this problem head on. By doing so it could be a huge decision for the US society and in turn a massive coup for Mesoblast. Interesting times.

"I hope the Biden administration will examine the consequences of Woodcock's leadership and appoint someone more suited to lead our country out of this devastating pandemic"
