Christianity, like most religions, is in dire need of updating. If they want to spread the message, they must first understand the message. My impression is that most ministers and priests have a weak grasp of the subject matter. Either that or their understanding is very old-fashioned. Apllication to daily life should be the focus. They need to sell its benefits.
