As at the beginning of the universe, as at the end and so now somewhere in the middle the only real fundamental truth is energy. Money itself is nothing or at the very most a series of electrons zooming around the SWIFT interbank network. However what money does allow for in the current system of capatilism is for the human race to efficiently harness an exponential increasing amount of energy for its further social and technological development. The thing that allows for this growth is increasing money supply / inflation. Naturally exponential growth within a closed system like the earth as the easy hydrocarbon energy reaches a peak becomes increasingly problematic and so will the associated system of the economy unless a new source of exponentially increasing energy is found and so the human race finds itself at a particularly delicate stage of its evolution over the next 50 years....
