Hate to say it, but our labour costs are extremely high. We always want more money, but we cant justify the wage levels for some things. Example - the car industry. The govt wont be on the hook for higher salaries, super, holiday pay, strikes, union demands, maternity leave, rorters not turning up for work, unfair dismissal laws, high rental costs, old work practices etc. I think more of this will happen just as miners use autonomous trucks. Like most folk, i want the jobs to stay here but the govt budgets are screwed and getting worse. They have no choice now but to outsource more. This might be just the start because many more semi skilled jobs will be going to robots. If you dont like it, stop voting for union lead govts like Shortens. They are dressed up to look like they protect jobs, but shorten did the exact opposite with clean-a-vent and the mushroom workers for some cash on the way through. The unions are getting rich and the workers are not seeing wage rises. Hard to get wage rises when our costs are much higher than most other countries already.
