It isn't illegal in Australia to have more than one wife.
Bigamy is illegal, that is marrying someone while already married to another. If one marries more than one wife overseas that it is legal in many countries, it doesn't become illegal when coming to Australia as a tourist or migrant.
There are more countries in the world where polygamy is legal than where homosexual marriage is legal.
