The major redevelopment of Cento Bankstown in south western Sydney is almost complete, with a new Myer store now open and two new retail zones to open on July 15.

The redevelopment has been in progress for two years at a cost of $168 million to establish new shopping precincts, car park facilities and overall beautification and improvement of the building and its surrounds.

“The redevelopments at Centro Bankstown have really generated a new lease of life into the entire centre,” said centre manager, Bilinda Errington.

The centre now has more than 310 speciality stores, with the majority of growth due to new shopping precincts throughout the centre.

Phase one of the redevelopment saw the opening of the ‘Fresh Life’ precinct, including a brand new Big W, extended Woolworths store and 32 new speciality stores. With the opening of Big W, Centro Bankstown became the only shopping centre in Sydney’s south west to offer three discount department stores: Target, Kmart and Big W.

The South Mall precinct, linking the Grand Market and the Food Court, opened in November 2007 and features 22 speciality stores including Cotton On Kids, Globalize, The Coffee Club, Diva and Cloud 9 Kids.
