Centro investors back rejigged merger offer

Eleventh-hour wrangling late last week to improve the terms offered to shareholders in Centro Retail in the company's $3 billion merger plans appears to have won over a number of retail investors in time for today's crucial vote on the deal.

Centro Retail shares rose 24 per cent to close at 31c on hopes that the chance of the deal going through had improved after the company altered the agreement late on Friday.
