Mesh (Or should that be melancholia?) You ask for thoughts - may I correct something that has crept up on you? I say you've got it wrong when you say that KM is switching roles. Just the opposite, KM has always been an explorer an entrepreneur. His managerial role is very recent, very time consuming and I think it must detract from he does best.
What is happening is that KM is reverting to his former role and giving himself time to do that well - and I think he'll bring TH on beautifully.
