I'm a bit late to respond to the below comment but I've only just read it.

" People get demoted, even fired, every day for poor job performance. That just happened to the safety manager on the island of Maui. A human tragedy."

Probably a fitting analogy.

People were arguing why didn't they sound the tsunami warning sirens. Well... There's a problem with an alarm that tells people to move up hill when the hill is on fire.

Poorly managed workplaces frivolously hire and fire all the time. Especially those in director roles. They regularly start over with fresh new eyes as though it would fix other influencing factors and then are confused when issues don't change or worsen from inexperience or unfamiliarity with specific issues.

People wanted a scapegoat with Hawaii. They got one. People want one here. I feel they need to grow up and work through this.
