Michael Liebreich is Chief Executive of Bloomberg New Energy Finance, the leading provider of research for decision-makers in the clean energy, water, carbon and power markets. Bloomberg New Energy Finance has close to 200 staff working out of 11 offices around the world. Michael founded the company in 2004 and acted as Chairman and Chief Executive until its acquisition by Bloomberg in 2009.
Michael is a member of the UN Secretary General’s High Level Advisory Group on Sustainable Energy for All, the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on the New Energy Architecture and Accenture’s Global Energy Board. He is a former member of the advisory board of the Clinton Global Initiative’s Energy and Climate Change working group, and of the selection panel for the Zayed Future Energy Prize. Michael is a member of the selection panel for the World Economic Forum Technology Pioneers and chairman of the selection committee for the Bloomberg New Energy Pioneers. He is on the advisory panel for the INSEAD Energy Club and acts as visiting professor at London’s Imperial College Energy Futures Lab.
Michael graduated in Engineering from the University of Cambridge, winning the Riccardo Prize for Thermodynamics. He earned his MBA from Harvard, where he was a Harkness Fellow and Baker Scholar. Michael was a member of the British Ski Team at the 1992 Albertville Olympic Games and is Chairman of St. Mark’s Hospital Foundation, a medical charity.
Jon has over 20 years’ experience of building professional service firms in the financial services industry, serving clients across the US, Europe and Asia. Prior to Bloomberg New Energy Finance, Jon’s career started with a decade at J P Morgan, supporting their Commodities business and Accenture within their Financial Services practice, including two years helping build the Asian Financial Services practice. This was followed by a decade where Jon was co-founder then CEO of a business consulting firm, m.a.partners, which provided services to the global capital markets community. Jon has a B Eng (Hons) in Electronic Engineering from Nottingham University and has attended professional development classes at Harvard and NYU.
