It wasn’t quite that bad . If you worked in the oil business you might have noticed the money that oil companies put into local schools, first aid stations , village halls and any other worth cause at the local level. Many locals were hired and earned good money. Along the pipeline route from Iagifu to the coast much of the land was not owned by anybody and there was compensation paid to various tribes.
It is not the responsibility of oil companies to distribute wealth/Profits ,..it is the duty of governments.
