Well said. It's easy for people to sit on the sidelines and point the finger at the big, bad corporates, but at ground level the O&G and mining companies working in these countries are often doing MUCH more than the government is to improve the lot of the locals. I have personally been involved in projects which provided ALL the local village's power, water and sanitation where there was none prior to our project coming to town.
Operating in remote villages in undeveloped countries can be a minefield, literally.
