I worked in New Guinea for many years. The country is rich in oil, gold and minerals. I never saw the impoverished people of New Guinea get any rewards from what the companies took from their country. That money went to the politicians and landowners. I think that the same would have happened in East Timor so spare me the crocodile tears.
