It's not approved for human use but it is approved for use in in agricultural food chain animals for treating parasites. MPL is the active ingredient in the product marketed as Zolvix. As you can imagine they had to go through an intense testing and approval process and also a follow studies since it came onto the market two decades ago. As an additional safety measure, farmers are required a period of (irc) some 15 days between its use for treating parasites and slaughter. Elanco, being the patent holder, provided PharmAust with this treasure trove of studies and data years back.
