Hmm ... fired? No. Not fired actually. Christmas would probably be one of the best times for someone to "step aside" if they had to.
No one to lead? Not exactly true either. I am sure their are still many able chiefs around the campfire fire suitable enough to run NMS in the short (even medium) term.
