Spare a thought for Orbis. They have 194m shares... that's $1.94m for every 1c move in CER.
Or what about CNP? They own around 1,100,000,000 shares of CER. That's $11m for every 1c move.
When CER was a $2 share, the fair value of the CNP holding was $2.2bn. Today it's fair value is $335m. Ouch. (For the record, CNP equity accounts the holding so it's slightly more complex than this).
In fact, on this basis, everyone who owns a CNP share (of which there are about 850m), indirectly owns about 1.3 CER shares as well. Did you realise that?
Which also raises the question, how come CNP is at 26c and CER is at 33.5c? Shouldn't CNP be at least 43c (ie 33.5c x 1.3) based on their CER shareholding alone?
(A humorous and financially unsophisticated analysis I agree.. but you get the idea)
